Laying Out Tiles for a Table

When I make my wall hangings and table tops I roll out a big slab, then I draw on the clay, imprint, and sculpt what I want it to look like. Then I hand cut each tile, and let them all dry flat on the board. When its time to fire them I put them in piles and put them into the kiln. When they come out they are like an all white puzzle.

Once I lay them all back out how I had them it's time to paint or glaze them.

When I paint them it takes days, weeks, sometimes months to get them just right, when I glaze them they have to go back into the kiln.

And then they all get laid back out again, sometimes several times.

These tiles were painted and and the wood under them has to be the exact shape as they are. So I moved them all to the wood, traced around them, moved them all then cut the wood and then laid them all back out again.

My next step will be to glue each one back down. so I can pour a beautiful layer of epoxy over them.
